Hi, I'm Beth Cherry, and I assumed the role of Executive Director of the Litchfield Chamber of Commerce on January 4th, 2021. I want to tell you a little bit about me, and share with you an update of what we've accomplished since I started, and what we have planned for this year and beyond. Most importantly, I want to assure you that I will make it my top priority to help our local businesses in as many ways as possible, with increasing your bottom line as my ultimate goal. More on that in a minute…
I reside here in Litchfield with my husband, Tom, our three children: Wade, 9; our four-year-old twins, Naomi and Brooks; and our "thinks she's the boss" Basset Hound, Ruby. I was born in Mt. Olive and graduated high school there in 2005. I then attended Sanford-Brown College and received my certificate in Massage Therapy in 2006. I opened my first business, Midwest Royals All Star Cheer, Pom and Tumble LLC, in 2012 and grew it to more than 120 girls and boys between three and 18 years of age. I sold that business last year and founded Be Still Yoga & Meditation, which I currently operate. Business ownership has given me a first-hand awareness of the challenges facing small businesses in our community, and has created in me a strong desire to improve the assistance available to them.
Our Board of Directors and I have carefully identified a number of initiatives and events for 2021 and beyond that are designed to help you as a small business owner. I will be unveiling these throughout the year—watch your in-box and social media for updates. We are planning relevant and interesting educational opportunities such as, "How Can I Make Social Media Work for Me?" which will include details on setting up and effectively utilizing social media tools like Facebook, Twitter, etc., to increase awareness of your business.
We've been busy this year, having hosted our annual Political Forum in March, our first-ever Art in the Park Festival in May, our annual golf open, our 73rd Annual Awards and Casino Night, and numerous grand openings, anniversary celebrations, and other special events at various members’ venues. Right now we’re in the midst of planning our biggest and most-anticipated event: Party in the Park! This is the 40th anniversary of this exciting event, and we’re working hard to make it the best ever! Check out the article elsewhere on the website for more information and to register for special activities and opportunities.
Above all, I want each of you to know that I am interested in what you have to say! You can email me at info@litchfieldchamber.com or call me at 217-324-2533. I'm always open to new ideas and suggestions, and look forward to meeting and working with you. In the meantime, keep an eye open for more information from us at the Litchfield Chamber of Commerce!
